Growth...

We have begun to dig and plant and grow. There were a few days this week where the garden was full of folks giving a hand at various projects. There is something really wonderful about people coming together in a space like a garden. Working together and with the Earth.

Prickly Pear

We rescued this Agave from Bisbee, it was uprooted and tossed to the side.
Some of its' arms were bent and I hope it will recover. It has still got a bit of that powerful Agave presence to it.

This agave as served as a strong symbol to me lately . Like a mirror.

So that's what "tunas" are called! Prickly pears! I was always calling them "that juicy fruit that grows out of cacti and leaves annoying little stinging hairs on your hand if you're not careful". :)

Joel and I are going to start making kombucha! Do you have cultures/mushrooms? I'd be more than happy trading you something for them if you want, or pay for postage. And if you don't I'll find someone in my area. :0)

oh i miss the prickly pears (fichi d' india) i had while in sicily! they were growing so abundantly where i was when i was there! while riding in bicicletta through la campagna i would stop sometimes to feast on them. oh so carefully... cutting off the two ends, slitting the skin, and peeling back to reveal the gift. buonissima!
